Paying the Price

Yesterday, I saw a new (I know it's new stock because I practically enter that store everyday.)pair of swimsuit that I love! I love the color and the print. You know I am hardly, rarely attracted to printed stuff. But I fell in love with this one! So, without much ado (as if this is something I do everyday), I got my size and tried it on.

OH MY GOODNESS! I AM FAT.

I think this is the first time that I was disgusted with what I saw on the mirror of the dressing room, and I felt like crying. Really. My tummy is flabby. My thighs are the size of logs. There's fat bulging out of the swimsuit. Call it overacting, but felt awful...ugly. Fat.

Suddenly, the swimsuit I love, didn't look so lovely anymore. I stared at my face (not my body, because I couldn't stand it) and asked myself "What the hell happened?". And my alter ego was quick to reply with run down of what I've been eating.

TABA NG TALANGKA. I've been eating this with anything and everything. There are even times this is the only thing I eat.

CHICKEN CHICHARON. I eat this like I eat my chips -- I snack on it non-stop in one sitting.

TABA. ANYTHING WITH TABA. Liempo. Crispy Pata. Beef tapa (yes with the taba).

To top it all off, I always have to have a bar of chocolate after or in between eating these utmost sinful yet oh-so-good food.

That's it! Enough sinful treats. I am going to add these to my lenten sacrifice of "no soda" and get myself back in shape in time for summer.

I still bought the swimsuit (after a night of thinking about it). I suppose to motivate myself to lose weight and make sure I would look good when I wear it.

Weddings Galore

This was suppose to be my wedding anniversary post, but what the heck.

I like attending weddings, specifically the Church ceremony (To me, the reception is just icing on the cake.), because one can really feel the blessing that God bestows on the couple. I am no sap, but I always get teary-eyed at that moment when the priest presents the newly married couple to the "public".

2006 has got to be the year we attended several weddings. I must say that I appreciate them more than ever. Each wedding is different from the other but in each one, I couldn't help but reminisce about my own. During the "I DO" parts, I picture my and my hubby at the altar exchanging vows. And as any married couple would claim, ours is still the best wedding ever! :)

Last December 18 was our first wedding anniversary. How time flies, huh? People often ask us how married life is. I always jokingly answer, it's the same as having a boyfriend/bestest friend but you go home to the same house and have sex all the time. Hahahaha! True! But it's a lot more than that! I can go on and on and on about how great it is being married, but the best thing about being married is knowing that your have someone to share your life with, hopefully until your breathe your last breath.

Congratulations to all our friends who got married:

And congratulations also to those who are about to take the plunge -- Beejay & Julz, Jason & Camille, Philippe & Gina. Enjoy your wedding preparations and be prepared for a life that's full of love & laughter.

Being married rocks!

Ancient

I enrolled in a short course to improve my teaching skills. During the first day of class, I was surprised to find out that my classmates are college students (taking up early childhood education) and my teacher is only 3 batches ahead of me! I felt ancient! Especially, when the students who come from the same university where I graduated started talking among themselves about the new buildings and facilities in the campus! Then, I said to myself "hey, this is my second career path already so that gives me the right to be old in here." (talk about being insecure about my age, huh? :p) and just sat there and participated as much as I could.

Until it came to a drill wherein we all had to quickly (as in a milli-second)but silently read a question and call out our answer out loud at the same time. Questions are answerable by a single word. Then this question came:

Are you married?

Surprise. Surprise (heavy on sarcasm here). I was the only one who answered "Yes". And I saw that everyone gave me a quick glance before we all moved on to the next question.

As expected, after the drill, everybody started asking "You're married na?" -- in their collegiala tone. Including my teacher! And here's how the rest of the conversation went.

Everybody: You're married na?

Me: Yes (with a grin). (Or I think I may just have nodded and grinned. Whatever.)

Collegiala 1: Grabe. Bata mo pa.

Me: Hahaha! Why how old do you think I am (yes, i was fishing, hehe)?

Collegiala 2: 23.

Me: Shaking my head. Smiling.

Collegiala 1: 24?

Me: Nope. Smile.

Collegiala 3: 26?

Me: Shaking my head.

Collegiala 1: Higher?

Me: Yes. Much higher.

All of them: 27? 30? 31!

Me (thinking it was taking too long): I'm 33. Turning 34 by the end of the year.

All of them (yes, in their collegiala voices): OMG! You don't look it! I swear! You look 23, or something!

We moved on to talking about how it was during my days in college, how different it was...how low tech it was! Then they starting asking me questions as if I was the Dalai Lama!

And at that point, I felt wise, rather than ancient.

My Poor Neglected Blog

I have always tried to make sure that my blog is update (at least every 2 weeks). It's been a month since my last post, still, no update. Truth is I have been meaning to blog about several things, but thanks to our inconsistent internet connection (thanks to the Taiwan earthquake), school work (Valentine's Day and Graduation coming up), a couple to consultancy jobs, family events, I couldn't sit down and just blog away.

Just to let you know that I haven't fully forgotten about my blog, here's a list of topics in my increasing blog topics supply:

- our European sojourn (i haven't even finished uploading our pictures!)
- the weddings we've been attending
- our first year wedding anniversary (yes, it's been a year! )
- what i've been eating (utmost sinfulness, i must say)
- my mommy wowa's (my grandmother) passing
- my struggle to keep my weight and stay fit
- our baby plans
- our trip to Baguio
- the 80's (my favorite era!)
- plays and musicals we've seen (about to see)
- my plan to cut my hair after 2 years (which should now be - my new hairdo)

Quite a few more, really. Hopefully, I can cross these things out one by one. Meanwhile, this will have to do.
