My cousins and I planned to go to the beach for a family outing to celebrate mother's day. With a headcount of 30 people, we carefully discussed all the details -- from the venue (should be a relatively short drive, since our lola gets tired with long travels), the budget (affordable yet nice and comfortable place that can house all of us), the food (this is like feeding a small-scale office, or an office department), transportation (do we rent vans or bring our own cars), plus other logistical concerns.
After all the meetings and discussions and just when everyone's excitement (especially the kids' and our lola's), is heightened, Caloy dropped by the day before our departure and decided to stay the entire duration of our beach getaway (which incidentally, would have been my last summer hurrah)! So, we ended up packing up, before even hitting the road. Augh!
And that's how my summer ended. How anti-climactic. Summer has officially ended and as early as now, I am already looking forward to next summer. I know there are lots of benefits rain could bring, especially to our environment, but I really am not a fan. I think the only good news rain brings is the drastic drop of our electric bill :).
Anyway, we still celebrated mother's day, gorging down all the "beach food" we have, imagining that the breeze we hear and feel is coming from the sea.
(Belated) Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms out there, especially to the best mom in the world -- My Mom.
